Shikhar Dhawan ruled out for three weeks due to a thumb injury..!

Big jolt to India’s World Cup hopes, Shikhar Dhawan ruled out for three weeks due to a thumb injury

Dhawan suffered the injury from a rising delivery from pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile and did not field against Australia.

After an electrifying performance against Australia at The Oval, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the ICC Cricket World cup owing to a thumb injury which he sustained during his knock against the Aussies.

Dhawan suffered the injury from a rising delivery from pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile and did not field against Australia.

Dhawan, hero of India’s win over Australia in the World Cup on Sunday, played through pain and went on to score 117 off 109 balls, hitting 16 fours and 1 sixer.

Replacing Dhawan will pose as a tough choice for the Indian selectors now with little options to chose from.

The Indian cricket team will face New Zealand on June 13 in their third match of the Cricket World Cup 2019.

Dhawan led the Indian charge after captain Virat Kohli won the toss and batted — a decision he said was a “no-brainer” given the sunny conditions in south London. The left-handed Dhawan put on 127 runs with opening partner Rohit Sharma as India reached 190 for one in 33 overs.
