BPCL Hosts Multi-City Curtain Raiser for India Energy Week 2027, Connecting Bhopal, Chennai and Kochi with Kolkata
75,000+ energy professionals and 700+ international exhibitors expected
Chennai, September 29, 2026: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and a Maharatna PSU, hosted connected Curtain Raiser programmes for India Energy Week (IEW) 2027 across Chennai, Bhopal and Kochi today, with the programmes linked live to the main Curtain Raiser held in Kolkata.
The connected programmes hosted by BPCL across Chennai, Bhopal and Kochi brought together representatives from the energy industry, academia, media and the student community, providing audiences across these key energy centres an opportunity to participate in the national and global energy conversation. The programmes featured the live streaming of the Curtain Raiser from Kolkata, along with interactions highlighting the significance of IEW 2027 and the evolving opportunities across India’s energy landscape.
Making its debut in Kolkata from 28–31 January 2027 under the theme “Unlocking Innovation. Securing Energy. Shaping Tomorrow,” the fifth edition of IEW will serve as the first major global energy conclave of the year, bringing together policymakers, energy leaders, technology innovators, investors and industry stakeholders from across the world to explore pathways to strengthen global energy security and advance sustainability.
Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India Energy Week has grown rapidly since its debut in Bengaluru in 2023, expanding in scale, international participation and the breadth of issues addressed. At the fourth edition in Goa in 2026, the event brought together 75,000+ energy professionals, 700+ exhibiting companies, participants from more than 120 countries and 6,500+ conference delegates, reflecting its preeminent position among global energy conclaves.
The evolution of India Energy Week has taken place alongside India’s increasing importance to the global energy system. As the world’s fastest-growing major economy, India’s energy demand is expanding rapidly, while the country continues to balance energy security and affordability with its transition towards cleaner energy systems. India’s energy choices therefore have implications well beyond its borders, making the country a centre of the global energy conversation.
The event will provide a platform for stakeholders across the energy value chain to explore opportunities in areas including oil and gas, LNG, refining and petrochemicals, hydrogen, biofuels, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, renewables, sustainable aviation fuel and other emerging energy technologies. The exhibition and conference programmes will also feature thematic zones, country pavilions, leadership discussions, ministerial sessions, innovation showcases and dedicated platforms for startups and researchers.
At Chennai, the connected Curtain Raiser programme was hosted by BPCL at the Centre for University – Industry Collaboration (CUIC), Anna University, Sardar Patel Road, Chennai in the august presence of Shri Vetsa Ramakrishna Gupta, Director Finance, BPCL, and witnessed participation from students, faculty members, industry representatives and media.
Shri V.R.K. Gupta, Director (Finance), BPC, while addressing the event, said, “India’s energy transition is a challenge of scale, requiring us to meet rising energy demand while keeping energy affordable, secure and progressively cleaner. The transition cannot be an either-or choice between conventional and new energy; we must reliably serve today’s needs while investing in the energy systems of tomorrow.
